Special press release: Fakuma 2020 gets ready for takeoff!
The 27th Fakuma – International Trade Fair for Plastics Processing – is gearing up for its next trade show appearance from Oct. 13 to 17, 2020. Currently, an implementation concept is being developed in close coordination between the responsible authorities, the location operator Messe Friedrichshafen and the trade fair company Schall in order to meet all requirements resulting from the Corona pandemic.
Frickenhausen, June 29, 2020 – Trade visitors expect Fakuma 2020 to be the industry and technology barometer in terms of modern plastics technologies. The trade show is considered the first place to go when it comes to injection molding, extrusion technology, thermoforming and 3D printing. It presents innovations in materials, machines, peripherals, processes, simulation, procedures, technologies and tools related to plastics processing and machining. As is well known, this year of the Corona pandemic everything is different than usual – many professional events had to be canceled. But Fakuma is in the starting position! With the declaration of intent issued by the state government of Baden-Württemberg on 23 June 2020 that trade fairs with more than 1,000 participating persons will once again be permitted to take place as of 1 September 2020, trade fair promoter P. E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG and its project team for the organisation of Fakuma 2020 are switching from forced waiting mode to offensive implementation mode. In close coordination with the responsible offices, the location operator Messe Friedrichshafen and the trade fair company Schall, an implementation concept is currently being developed, which will be submitted for approval in a few days. Schall’s declared goal is to be able to give exhibitors and cooperation partners the GO! for Fakuma 2020 by the end of July 2020 at the latest.
Final “GO!” expected at the end of July
Exhibitors, cooperation partners and trade visitors have long been waiting for concrete information and commitments, but official requirements have forced a wait. As a benchmark for the further planning of trade fair operators and trade fair organizers, the Ministry of Economics and the Ministry of Social Affairs of Baden-Württemberg have drawn up hygiene guidelines for the organization of trade fairs. “Our trade show locations already allow a high degree of controllability. They are already well prepared. For example, through access controls with registration by name, limiting the number of participants, controlling the flow of visitors in relation to the size of the room/hall, or even ventilation concepts for indoor areas,” explained Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Baden-Württemberg’s Minister of Economic Affairs. Attendance at large trade shows would be differentiated because not all visitors are at the show at the same time; rather, the flow of visitors is spread out over one day of the show as well as across all days of the show, which allows for controlled management.
Fakuma 2020: Topics of the present and future
Digitization, networking, advanced process integration and system solutions for equipment and peripherals have now also arrived in plastics processing machinery. Other topics at Fakuma will of course include environmental protection, sustainability, resource efficiency and the circular economy. Only by increasing recycling rates and improving the efficiency of waste management can the plastic waste problem be mastered globally. Fakuma 2020 will also be an indispensable platform for the topic of bioplastics.
