Extruded plastic profiles made from recycled material significantly improve the CO2 balance

K-Profile uses plastic waste from a packaging manufacturer to produce high-quality plastic profiles through an extrusion process. The profiles produced have a convincing CO2 balance thanks to the recycled material.
As a versatile material, plastic is indispensable in industry across all sectors. At the same time, the material is increasingly being criticized for its environmental impact. As a result, manufacturers are being called upon to use innovative materials and processes to optimize production in terms of their carbon footprint. By producing a plastic profile from high-value production waste, K-Profile provides a compelling example of how the positive properties of the material can be exploited while significantly reducing the associated CO2 emissions.
A manufacturer of bottles and packaging solutions produces, among other things, a plastic bottle for the well-known "Handy" hand cleanser. BIPLAST delivers the granulated production waste generated during production to K-Profile AG, two kilometers away.
K-Profile uses the unmixed production waste to manufacture plastic profiles, which are used by companies in Switzerland and Germany, for example, for sealing buildings.
"We are constantly surprised by the applications for plastics," says Reinhard Lechthaler, CEO of K-Profile AG, "Our goal is to develop and produce the right plastic profile for every innovative idea. We have known for many years that there is no way around sustainable alternatives in plastics processing. For this reason, we use recycled plastic material wherever possible".
"Not using plastic is not an environmentally friendly option," says Lechthaler. "We protect the environment by using bioplastics made from renewable resources, efficient production processes and short logistics chains.
