CO2 footprint calculation for plastic compounds

SITRAPLAS sets standards in terms of sustainability: CO2 footprint calculation for plastic compounds
SITRAPLAS, the East Westphalian compounder for innovative technical plastic solutions, is now calculating the CO2 footprint of its plastic compounds during product development. This pioneering solution marks a milestone in the company's efforts to make the environmental impact of its products transparent and provide its customers with a sound basis for making sustainable decisions.

As part of a research project together with the Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid and supported by the MID funding program of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (*), SITRAPLAS has developed a calculation matrix that can be used to calculate the product carbon footprint (PCF) of existing plastic compounds and future developments. Based on this calculation matrix, determined with the life cycle assessment software Umberto 11, a life cycle inventory is carried out in accordance with ISO 14067. For this purpose, the production processes in the SITRAPLAS plant were considered in advance and all material and energy flows were recorded for balancing.

Commitment to greater sustainability and transparency
The implementation of the CO2 footprint calculation once again illustrates SITRAPLAS' strong commitment to sustainability and transparency. Customers can now purchase high-quality plastic compounds from SITRAPLAS from an ecological perspective by opting for products with a lower carbon footprint.

Save time and material
An elementary step in this direction is the definition of the CO2 footprint during the product development of plastic compounds. This innovative concept enables a high level of transparency with regard to environmental impact. At the same time, time and material can be saved. Get in contact with us.
